President’s Message

It is an honor to serves as president of such a worthy organization as the Boys & Girls Clubs of Citrus County. The clubs are an integral part of the communities within Citrus County and many families have learned to rely on us as creators of safe havens and as mentors to their children. While we struggle with a difficult economy, we are aware that this organization is even more important to Citrus County communities now than it has been in the past. Families need us; children need us; the community needs us. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Citrus County organization is eager to accept the challenges now facing us.

We have instituted a new fund raising campaign. A special events coordinator will work full time to raise funds for the organization tapping resources previously overlooked or under-accessed. We are embracing partnerships with the school system with a goal of academic growth for all of our members resulting in a higher graduation rate. We are adding or emphasizing programs in the clubs to address the needs of youth as they learn to make responsible decisions whether about drugs or personal relationships or threatening violence. We are guiding children through the arts in an effort to broaden their life experiences. We are bringing knowledge of nutrition, the importance of regular exercise, and a healthy mental attitude to our members. We help children to learn the rewards of acceptable behavior. Often, our clubs are the most important stabilizing influence in children’s lives. Our clubs nurture, support, accept, and challenge our members to grow.

We appreciate that your support has made our growth from one club to 3 clubs serving some 700 Citrus County children possible. We thank you. With your continued help and the work of our dedicated staff and diligent Board of Directors, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Citrus County will continue to be the place where great futures begin. We are the Positive Place for Kids.
